Manchester City received more payments from FIFA than any other club for releasing players for the 2022 World Cup. City received £3.54m ($4.6m) from the world governing body's total of £160.91m ($209m) in payments to clubs. Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain were next on the list. In total, English clubs received £29m ($37.7m), more than clubs in any other country. European teams accounted for 76% of the overall sum distributed. The payments were made according to the number of days each player involved had spent at the tournament. FIFA says the overall sum represented a payment of £9,388 ($10,950) per day for each player.
