A new study has found that having too much free time can actually be bad for your well-being. Researchers looked at data from 21,700 Americans who took part in the American Time Use Survey between 2012-2013. We found that having a dearth of discretionary hours in one’s day results in greater stress and lower subjective well-being, Dr. Marissa Sharif, University of Pennsylvania. It was found that having two hours of free time resulted in higher well-being. However, a person’s well-being levels off after two hours and begins to decline after five hours.
