Billie Eilish has slammed her online critics for comments on her feminine dress sense. The pop star took to Instagram to voice her grievances on critics who say she ‘sold out’ by dressing more femininely. "I spent the first 5 years of my career getting absolutely OBLITERATED by you fools for being boyish and dressing how I did. And now when I feel comfortable enough to wear anything remotely feminine or fitting, I CHANGED and am a sellout", Billie Eilish. In the early stages of her career, Eilish was known for wearing baggy, brightly-colored clothes. She previously said she did this as she did not feel comfortable in her body and did not want to be sexualized in the media. After doing a cover of Vogue wearing revealing clothing, Eilish has been more comfortable with her feminine style, particularly in public. This move sparked many critics to say she sold out by sexualizing herself and becoming “the same” as every other pop star. The Grammy winner has made it clear in the past that shedding the ‘tomboy’ image was a personal choice and not a professional one. Eilish concluded her profanity-laced Instagram rant by saying “LET WOMEN EXIST”. This is one of many times the pop star has shown frustration with the level of criticism female artists face in regard to body image.
