Toulouse FC recently excluded several players from its Ligue 1 game against Nantes for refusing to take part in an anti-homophobia campaign. The French club said that although they respect the “individual choices of its players” they decided to exclude them from the game. Soccer teams in France were asked to wear jerseys with rainbow colors to raise awareness for International Day against Homophobia. Toulouse FC’s Zakaria Aboukhlal confirmed on social media that he decided not to participate due to his “own personal beliefs” . However, he holds the “highest regard for every individual regardless of their personal preferences, gender, religion or background”.
