Tina Turner was revered as "simply the best". However, during her groundbreaking career, the singer faced unimaginable personal tragedies. In her childhood, she worked with her parents on a cotton field. When she was 10, her mother and later her father, left her and her siblings behind. In 1957, fate brought Tina face-to-face with her future husband, Ike, as he performed with the band Kings of Rhythm at a nightclub. The couple married in 1962. However after years of severe abuse, Turner filed for divorce, and was left with 36c to her name. Turner, after enduring years of struggles, finally secured a record deal with Capitol Records in 1983. Her music landed on the Billboard Hot 100. In May 1984, her groundbreaking album "Private Dancer" was unveiled, launching her into the realm of superstardom with unprecedented speed. Along the way, Tina found love when she met German music executive Erwin Bach in 1986. The two tied the knot in July 2013. Tragedy struck Tina once again in 2018 when her son, Craig, tragically took his own life, leaving her devastated. Tina lost another son in December 2022. He had been diagnosed with cancer 3 weeks prior, however it had already progressed to stage four by that time. Over the years, Tina faced a series of health challenges that persisted throughout her career; experiencing a stroke and cancer. Turner sold over 150 million records worldwide, won 12 Grammys, was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and honored at the Kennedy Center. Her representatives announced that she passed away after a "long illness”, and that “With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model."
