An ex-Google recruiter has shared the number one thing to do after applying for a job. Nolan Church, a former Google & DoorDash recruiter, says you should always follow up on your application. Church says following up with the hiring manager is something “everyone fails at” but can make a big difference in getting an interview. "Probably 90% of the time, we took calls with those people," said Church. Church recommends starting with adding the CEO and hiring manager on LinkedIn and sending them a one-sentence message. Then look for their emails on social media accounts or the company website. Church says that even if the CEO doesn’t read the email, someone on their team most likely will and send it on to the HR department.
