World's highest Jesus statue towers over homes in Indonesia

Aerial footage shows one of the world's highest Jesus statues towered over homes in Indonesia. The drone video shows the giant figure called ‘Jesus Christ Blessing' or the ‘Jesus Buntu Burake' standing on a platform in a hilly village while seemingly blessing the surrounding houses with its arms in Toraja, South Sulawesi, on June 8. It was built at a high altitude of 1,700 metres above sea level and measured from head to base more than 132ft high with head to feet measuring more than 75ft-high while its base was more than 57ft. The materials used were cast bronze that weighed 70 tonnes and its foundation was almost 28ft-deep. It took the artist and workers two years to build it, starting in 2013 and finishing in September 2015. While the more recently constructed Jesus Blessing statue in Indonesia is massive, the Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro stands 9ft taller than it. It is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. This massive Art Deco sculpture stands 98ft tall and depicts Jesus Christ with outspread arms.
